The City Life

After I graduated college I moved to Hollywood to pursue my music career...Coming from Tahoe and Colorado, this was quite a shock. I only lasted one year before I had to get out of that crazy town. This piece is an expression of my emotions while I was living in LA ...Basically trapped, angry, and yearning for the mountains...That being said ...there were many great things about living in LA that I think also come through in the piece. We met many great people that have become friends for life. The music that we wrote while in LA is reflective of these friendships and made living in the concrete jungle much more bearable. The city life is high paced and crazy, and lots of people obviously love that lifestyle. There are parts of that life that I really enjoyed myself. I feel like some of the sharp color contrasts and violent lines in this piece were influenced by my conflicting desires between this crazy city life, and my love for nature. I look back on my time in Hollywood, and this piece, and appreciate how it has helped me to be more patient and tolerant of places that do not embody the same beauty as much of the natural world.
