When we were living in Hollywood, my brother Tony built a bar on the roof of his apartment building. It had an amazing view of the Hollywood sign and the lights of the city below. We used to go up to the Burl Bar with our instruments and play for all the neighbors. People would bring their fruits of choice and it was a great time away from the hectic pace of the madness below. It is important to meet your neighbors, especially in a place like LA where everyone is so packed in and living in such close quarters. People are all stressed out from work and traffic, and sadly, many of them retreat to the seclusion of their apartments, unaware of the potentially great friends living next door.
